P: Almighty and eternal God, you know our problems and our weaknesses better than we ourselves. In your love and by your power help us in our confusion and, in spite of our weakness, make us firm in faith; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. C: Amen.

The Readings

The First Lesson: Isaiah 35:4-7a

  Psalm 146

{1} Praise the LORD!

C: Praise the LORD, O my soul!

{2} I will praise the LORD as long as I live;

C: I will sing praises to my God all my life long.

{3} Do not put your trust in princes, in mortals,

C: in whom there is no help.

{4} When their breath departs, they return to the earth;

C: on that very day their plans perish.

{5} Happy are those whose help is the God of Jacob,

C: whose hope is in the LORD their God,

{6} who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them;

C: who keeps faith forever;

{7} who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry.

C: The LORD sets the prisoners free;

{8} the LORD opens the eyes of the blind.

C: The LORD lifts up those who are bowed down; the LORD loves the righteous.

{9} The LORD watches over the strangers;

C: he upholds the orphan and the widow, but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.

{10} The LORD will reign forever, your God, O Zion, for all generations.

C: Praise the LORD!

Liturgy of the Lord's Supper

The Great Thanksgiving

*The Preface Dialog… pg. 68

P: The Lord be with you.

C: And also with you.

P: Lift up your hearts.

C: We lift them to the Lord.

P: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

C: It is right to give him thanks and praise.

*The Proper Preface:

P: It is indeed right and salutary that we should at all times and in all places offer thanks and praise to you, O Lord, holy Father, through Christ our Lord; who on this day overcame death and the grave, and by his glorious resurrection opened to us the way of everlasting life. And so, with the Church on earth and the hosts of heaven, we praise your name and join their unending hymn:

*The Sanctus…pg. 69

C: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of pow’r and might: Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna. Hosanna. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

*The Eucharistic Prayer…pg. 70

P. Blessed are you, Lord of heaven and earth. In mercy for our fallen world you gave your only Son, that all those who believe in him should not perish, but have eternal life. We give thanks to you for the salvation you have prepared for us through Jesus Christ. Send now your Holy Spirit into our hearts, that we may receive our Lord with a living faith as he comes to us in his holy supper.

C. Amen. Come Lord Jesus.

P. In the night in which he was betrayed our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take and eat; this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me. Again after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: This is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.

*The Lord's Prayer…pg. 71

*The Agnus Dei… "Lamb of God"  ...pg. 72

Following the Agnus Dei:

*P. When we eat this bread, we share the very Body of Christ. When we drink this cup, we share the very Blood of Christ.

*C. Reveal yourself to us, O Lord, in the breaking of bread as once you revealed yourself to your disciples. Amen.
